New Jeans

OMG. Remember I one of my first blogs I said that I was aiming to fit in to a pair of jeans that I had worn only once.

Well I decided this morning after my shower that I would hunt them out and give them a try... Sure enough they fit and comfortably I didn't have to squeeze.

I'm over the preverbal moon... Self target 1 achieved now to set a new target... I think that target will be the slimming world club 10 where I lose 10% of my original weight that means to get down to 108.4 kgs/238lbs/17stones exactly. Hopefully won't be to long to hit that target too.

Nommy Beef





Just look at that... What a loverly price of meat only problem is that I can't eat it... Well not today anyway it for dinner tomorrow.

Todays food was a scrum diddly umptious spaghetti bolognese that Laura made last night extra special as it had zuchini in it ( couldn't spell corgette) it was absolutely amazing, ate that about 1130 before heading to work. For dinner at work it's prawn salad. Still very scrummy but think I prefer ham salad to prawn.

No Weigh in

Why does work always get in the way...

 

Yes missed the weigh in last night due to having to work till 10pm wasnt fun.  Had a couple of bad days over the last week, there was the spew day and Sunday.  Still feeling guilty about th food on Sunday but I took the advice from people and "got right back on board" Monday was a good day along with yesterday both days were 0 SYN days.  So no official weigh in this week but I did weigh myself on my own scales and that came in at 17st 12lb if thats correct then in a week I lost 8lb.  

 

Due to being bad i've not been able to get out walking as much only managed to cover 16 miles so no where near the 4 miles per day target i set myself infact it only turned out at 2.6 miles per day.  so as soon as i hit publish on here i'm off to get dressed and out walking before I head to work, with any luck i'll manage to fit in 3-4 miles before I start.

 

This week will be a hard week in the diet game as the funds for fresh fuit and veg is at an all time low so i may have to take to eating Ice out of the freezer!  Ok thats a bit dramatic seen as i've got a frozen chicken, joint of beef, steak, mince, Lamb, frozen veg and frozen fish.  Not to mention tins in the cupboards guess i'm just going to have to be a little creative with the menu.

 

 *EDIT* Just realised that means since starting loosing weight according to my scales i have lost a full 2 stones in just under two months.

Cheat day..

You read it right my first cheat day since 7th January 2011.

After an evening chilling with my eldest daughter and Laura we decided to go bowling. Bowling went well I won lots had a few drinks (diet pepsi).

Following bowling came the food... Yeah food I feel so guilty that I ate lightly fried calamari and meatballs with spaghetti and beef ragu. Not sure how to calculate the SYNs in all that... Any one wanna help me out?

Sickness isn't good

Well spent close to 18 hours spewing after being weighed on Tuesday not a pleasant feeling at all just as I was laying down to sleep I had to run only sleeping I could do was sitting up... That sitting up and sleeping is most uncomfortable.

Based on my weight from slimming world and me weighing myself last night I lost 2kg's just from being sick.

Well back at the proper diet today so far managed the walk to work and a walk on first break. Had salmon and veg do lunch before I started work some melon for breakfast and 2 bananas. Hopefully Laura will make a nice healthy light dinner for when I get in.

In the red corner

Managed to fit in 4.51 miles of walking today on breaks and to and from slimming world, bit annoyed at myself only covering 3.9 miles a day, mind you my ankle was giving me hell at the beginning of the week.

Arrived a little later than normal at slimming world tonight due to finishing at 7pm due I did get a 1mile walk out of it.

The weigh in tonight is a loss of 3.5 lbs so that's a total of 8 lbs that's right 1/2 a stone off... Yes believe it or not that's 1/2 a stone I can't believe it. Well that's about 1 stone and a half since January 7th...




Weigh in Tuesday

Well after yesterday's disastrous valentines meal I'm taking it easy with food today as it's weigh day... Every Tuesday I feel like a heavy weight boxer trying to make the weight for there next fight trying to walk the extra 1/2 mile to burn a few calories.

Usual breakfast bananas and alpro lunch was eaten stupid early as at work and didn't want to walk about with a smelly lunch box. I had ham salad with balsamic vinegar think I need to get some more soup on the go to have a change. Had plenty of fruit as well today so feeling a little windy.

Well off for my third walk of the day in a bit will check in later to conform the new weight and to confirm if the "fatty fat fat club" is working.

Valentines day meal.

Well I thought it would be nice to make a nice Tagliatelle Carbonara for Laura and me. So off I trout to shops to ensure we had everything

Ham... Changed to extra lean smoked bacon medallions
Cheese... Changed to fat free Quark
Eggs
Chives
Tagliatelle... Bought more didn't realise already had a ton if it.
Red roses for Laura ... Well come on it is valentines day and I'm a big doctor at heart.

So before I made dinner I took care of some house work and put the flowers somewhere for Laura to find them.

Screwed up the carbonara sauce a little think the pan was a little hot when I added the cheesy mixture as it seemed to split whole mixing together. Oh well I learn for next time.

Was still a lot tastier than I thought it would be with Quark may not be using again as it had a sudden reaction with Laura despite her lactaid.

Well finishing off the evening watching The Kings Speech and eating fruit.

First day back at work

Yes after a few days (10) off work this is the first day back so no epic walks today only break walks. Not even sure if I should do them because my foot is still really sore but I will at least try to cover 2 miles today.

Not sure what we have planned for dinner tonight but if I remember correctly there should be a nice rump in the fridge that's just news trimming of fat. Probably do some wedges(slimming world) and some veg to go with.

Kinda forgot I started writing this when I started work but now I'm home looking at a pile of washing up from last nite thinking I can't be bothered with it. Managed to walk the 2 miles today at work wanted more but as foot started to hurt I decided not a good idea so stopped.

The weigh in is complete

There you go weigh in is complete another 2.5lbs lost. Think I'll need to up the amount of walking this week as I want that 1/2 stone next week. Think I'll set myself a target of 45 miles up from this weeks 35.

If anyone wants to join me then let me know I aim to cover as much as I can in a day trying to hit 3.5/4mph

Two Weeks In

Well I've completed my second full week on the Slimming World diet plan and I feel great. I've managed to smash my per day walking target of 4 miles per day and complete nearly 5 miles every day, although I haven't taken a day off I have managed to have a rest day where I walked very little. The graph below failed to show todays almost 6 miles of walking.




The diet itself has been fine plenty of free and super free foods. Never had any major cravings. I must admit to being a little anal with regards to checking SYN values and ensuring I'm eating good quality healthy food as you'll see from my diaries below.





















I think I was a little naughty on Saturday as I kinda ate nothing looking at the diary but I was full and content throughout the whole day.

Well nearly weigh in time and I'll post again as soon as I know the totals. I feel like I'm losing loads but still not 100% certain that I am. I know people have offered kind words of support to help me out and I am very grateful for every word. I know I must be losing weight due to the kind comments and the fact I smashed a belt today just by fastening it.... I know shocking now I need a new belt or people will get to see my bare ass when I'm out walking.

Oh well down to the waiting for the moment of truth...

Walkies

After doing my 5.25 miles today I figure that puts me over the 4 miles a day average. Took a little longer than normal due the the force 10 gale out there. Was planning food but can't decide what to have salmon potatoes and veg or something else with it.

I'm open to suggestions just remember that it needs to be super healthy.

Hmmm... Brain fart how about a stir fry... I got peppers just need everything else. Hmmm decisions decisions.

Lamb nom noms

Sunday dinner is completely different without the kids, more relaxed and peaceful. However, they were missed today pity they all had a cold.

Settled in at my mams as usual around 1130 ish, only a short walk from seeing the poorly kids, not even a mile need some serious walks to catch up to my target.

So dinner today was a scrummy leg of lamb roasted in the oven till perfect.



All the fat was removed prior to serving, the gulls must love sunday at my mams too as the get all the left over bits. To go with the lamb we had roast spuds cooked the slimming world way with fry light. Green beans broccoli and sprouts accompanied. SYNS today were supplied by gravy and mint sauce feel a little guilty as 4 SYNS is the most I've had on any day whilst on the diet. Mind you the guilt quickly passes when you taste the perfection of the beautiful lamb and veg.


I wonder if Laura will miss her share of the dinner?

Friday's Jacket Potato...

Another nice walk again today didn't go for the 9 miles again but i did manage 5.39 miles really making good headway on my 4 miles a day.  Trying to build up a little lead as i know on Sunday i'll not manage the full 4.

Anyway too todays jacket potato you'll notice it managed to take on the appearance of pasta... Laura changed her mind last night and decided that we wanted pasta.  So whilst out walking i bought some Passata and nice juicy peppers mixed it all together with some mushrooms onion chilli and garlic.  However, me being me I wanted meat with my pasta i cooked some mini chicken breast fillets on George.


Rest of the days food matched yesterdays except switched Melon for fresh Pineapple even the salad i had was the same and as loverly as yesterdays.  Got no salad stuff left for tomorrow but i have got ham so think another epic walk is on the cards.

Sword fish...

Decided this morning that I would go for a pre breakfast walk I intended to only walk 1-2 miles just to warm me up for the day. Well that all went to pot when I heard the Endomondo software tell me I'd walked the first mile in 19 mins I thought that I could do better so I kept walking and walking. The first half of the walk finished at 5 miles when I reached ASDA after finishing my shopping I thought sod it let's walk home as well so 9.48 miles 2hr 44min later I collapsed to the sofa thinking wow that felt good. Now 10 hours on I'm thinking ouch toe blisters.

Along the walk I made 2 new friends.













I call them softie and muncher as one like strokes and the other tries to eat me.

Anyways to the food for the day lunch was a ham salad dressed with balsamic vinegar. For tea we had sword fish yes sword fish now before you all say that's nor nice as they are endangered according to marks and spencers that was in the late 80's early 90's. With the fish that was cooked on George we had boiled spuds and and steamed veg (broccoli, carrots, sweetcorn and peas).







Was bloody lovely the fish had a strange but nice nutty flavour (no oils used) and had the same texture as a tuna steak. Looking forward to doing the other pieces that are in the freezer.

Tomorrow gonna go for the easy option of baked spuds and beans or possibly something along those lines.

Wednesdays food





On the plate tonight we have Chicken fillets coated on paprika and chilli spice, beetroot, spring onion, cherry tomatoes, and steamed veg oh and the chips I wanted.

That was the best idea Laura and myself have had in at least 8 hours. It was so so tasty the spices on the chicken were unbelievable.

To cheat or not to cheat

Woke up this morning thinking about cheating and gorging on anything I could get but so far today I haven't and I'm pleased that i haven't.

Breakfast was the usual bananas melon and alpro yogurt and hopefully that alpro will be my only SYN today.

Lunch/brunch when Laura got and decided she wanted breakfast I decided that I too would partake in the gammon egg and mushrooms. Gammon wad trimmed of fat and cooked on the new family member GEORGE.







The food under george was last nights tea of lamb couscous roasted peppers mushrooms and cherry tomatoes.

So coffee in Starbucks now is about finished and Thinking about tea tonight. Feeling SYN free chips and ..... TBC....

One week on.

Well it's one week one from me signing up to Slimming world and it's been a little of a strange week. I feel like I've done really well in the diet side of things. I've managed to keep my SYN intake to around 1 a day but on occasions that has jumped to 3. I have managed to avoid the temptation of beer wines and spirits. I have struggled when out and about while walking in that it is so hard to find something good and healthy to eat. Example I looked in a local restaurant today glance at the menu and I could just see in my head the amount of oils used in the cooking of a pasta dish or the SYNS in a pizza, that depressed me a little but I won't be out done.

Exercise wise over the week I think I've done really well I've managed to walk almost 30 miles, never reached my target as that I set to 4 miles a day and I averaged out at 3.84 miles. I'll still be aiming for 4 miles a day over coming weeks and I will reach my goal.

So here I am sitting in the community hall waiting to be weighed and I panicking "what if I haven't lost? What if I've put on?" it's stupid I know but I really want to loose some weight and if this doesn't work for me I don't know what will.

Well scales worry over I've managed to loose 2lb in the first week. Now I feel good not brilliant as I must admit to wanting for more of a lose but hey it's 2lb and it's better than putting weight on.

Hopefully going to cover 6 miles walking tomorrow as need to go to hospital to get this pot off.

Looking forward to tea tonight now as looking forward to my lamb and couscous now.
